The Social Network

I have just watched the movie about the guy who invented the Facebook, Mark something. He’s nothing but the youngest billionaire of the world. Crazy, huh? At first he stroke me as a geek (as people now call the nerds) or – and then I don’t know – a person with serious mingling problems. He talked in a funny way, he looked as different as all the Math genius should look. Obviously he had problems with girls and that may be what made him start the Facebook. It is a very interesting movie and it shows how cruel so called friends can be to each other or even how much do you step on people to get what you really want, without measuring the consequences.

Two scenes called my attention the most: the first was a conversation he had with a girl that dumped him right in the begging of the movie. She said that Internet is now eternal, everything you put there will actually be there and you can’t pretend it’s not. She says something like “the Internet is not made of pencil, all its words are written in ink and you can’t just erase them”. She was furious because he had posted on his blog bad things about her (two of them being namely calling her a bitch and talking about the size of her bro). It made me think about all of this crazy shit people put online. I had a friend once that (I don’t why, really don’t) let her boyfriend take pictures of her naked. After they split up, the photos ended up appearing on disgusting website full of nasty comments about her and about the boyfriend and so on.

The other scene (and this might not be only one specific scene) was how people are really interested in the money they can make with the idea and not paying the least attention to the guy who came up with the idea. This little genius are now rich as hell, but are they happy? That’s what I kept thinking caming back home from the cinema while listening to the “Aerosmith’s Pandora’s Box” CD 1.
